CHANGE PITCHER USAGE

The Change Pitcher Usage Dialog lets you change the way that a pitcher is used in the minor leagues.

Unlike position players, the only way to change a pitcher's position (e.g. 'Relief Pitcher' or 'Starting Pitcher') is to change the way he is used. For example, if you want to turn a major league starting pitcher into a reliever, simply put him in the bullpen in a closer or short relief role. (Or, if you wish to have exact control over pitcher usage, you can play each game in Play-By-Play Mode). As the player pitches more in his new role, his Endurance Rating will adjust to match his usage. You can do the same thing in reverse to convert relievers into starters.

However, minor league teams do not have an explicit rotation and bullpen. In order to change how a pitcher is used in the minors, you must use this dialog box. To access the Change Pitcher Usage Dialog, click on a pitcher's position in the Scouting Report.

Note: This setting also affects how pitchers are used during Spring Training, when you don't have direct control over your starting rotation and bullpen.
