Baseball Mogul 2009
(Download Version)
The CD-ROM version will be
available in May.
In addition to the major features listed here, these are some of the smaller improvements we've made in this year's version:
The photos included with the game have been renamed to match their unique 'Lahman' ID strings. This means, for example, that you'll no longer see a picture of Ken Griffey Jr. when viewing the Scouting Report for Ken Griffey Sr.
Improved 'Leaders' pages in the HTML Encyclopedia. Clickable team names have been added after each player, showing the team (or teams) that he played for in that season. We've also added links at the top of each section that let you easily jump around the page, instead of scrolling up and down looking for the section you want.
The ALCS, NLCS and World Series winners have also been added to the HTML Encyclopedia for each season.Player links added to HTML box scores and game recaps.
Extra batter removed from 'starters' list on the HTML Encyclopedia team pages.
Dropped fly balls by outfielders reduced. To keep error totals correct, a
corresponding number of booted balls were added, allowing one or more runners to
gain an extra base. When starting a new game, historical playoff stats are loaded (and of course,
displayed in all Scouting Reports).Simulated playoff stats are stored and displayed for each player.
Stadium Effects recalculated when a new random stadium is generated (in the Stadium Editor).
Individual check boxes added that let you tell the computer to automatically set your ticket prices, concessions prices, and/or expenses.
All Star Game clickable on Calendar Screen (to view Box Score or Recap).
Fixed a bug leading to corruption of pitcher ratings in Player Editor.
Roster loading fixed to that players with unrecognized team abbreviations are placed on the free agent list.
Fielding ratings in Scouting Report match those in Player Editor
Bug fixed that created too many amateur draft players (if the League Editor was used after the June draft).
Rick Ankiel correctly loaded as a right fielder (not a pitcher) in 2008.
Team History Dialog correctly credits historical awards to each team (in previous versions, there were some inaccuracies if a player changed teams during his career).
Defensive Substitution Dialog fixed to only shown bench players that haven't yet been used in today's game.
Dead friends eliminated from Scouting Report.
Searching for "Retired Players" in Find Players returns all matching players, not just batters.
"Clear Season Transactions" button added to Advanced Options. This helps you move players around to create a custom database, and then clear all the extraneous transaction records with one click.
Improved lineup AI. The computer manager is now better at using players out-of-position if needed. For example, if a team has two excellect right fielders but no good left fielders, it will put one of the right fielders (generally the one with the weaker arm) in left field.
BABIP added to Sortable Stats.
Crash fixed copying to clipboard in Sortable Stats.
Overflow bug fixed when searching for players earning $20,000,000 or more in Find Players.
Pitcher 'Movement' rating varies less with age and injury. Movement and Control ratings tweaked to provide a better distribution (as the top end of a normally distributed bell curve).
Uncompressed saves no longer lose year-by-year stats.
'Calc BF' button added to Player Editor (estimates 'Batters Faced' from other data).
'Output Rosters' button improved so that duplicate players aren't created accidentally when you go to import the roster file.
Realistic salaries calculated at start of game in historical seasons.
Fielding errors recorded in playoffs.
More realistic fielding stats when loading older players (primarily, projected range has been reduced for players over 30).
