I agree. DaBL is in need of a major overhaul.

23 owners just isn't acceptable for a league such as this. Recruitment of quality GM's and not just the first guy that comes in is what this league needs.

Back in the day, DaBL owners were as loyal and active as you could find. Now, it seems as though this league has loaded up with newbie's and guys that never post in the forums. (Not meant as a slam to those who have remained active and keep this league afloat, ala Sturge, Ed, Secandido, Deja, ect...)

It's time for DaBL to get it's status and direction back.

I'm not sure, but I wonder if there's just a feeling of hopelessness to win. Has Deja and CJennings crushed everyone's spirits to even try anymore? Can one owners overpowering success be bad for a league? Perhaps so.

I'm going to agree with Sturge here. Everybody knows that getting active owners are going to be hard when your dominant GM's control the largest markets... I've said this before and I'll repeat it again, I challenge... dare... (choose your own word to go here)... Deja to even attempt his success with a market in the Arizona to Cleveland range instead of the mega-market LAD/NYY teams.

Now while I don't know if that will bring a ton of new "quality" owners into the league... but freeing up NYY will definitely bring at least 1 "new" owner in as everybody and their grandma wants the NYY revenue base.

Yeah, I agree with Mein. Deja, you do a great job with LAD and I'm sure you're going to continue with NYY but I just don't see the satisfaction. Being the biggest markerts, you are expected to win. I find joy in turning around smaller/mid markets.

As for rules...if it ain't broke dont' fix it.

Only thing I can think of is modifying HP/FP based on revenue. Less for high revenue teams; more for low revenue teams. Only question is where to draw the lines.

I remember a while back someone here was starting another league and was asking people what features they liked. And of course people here voted for the same things that are in this league. What nobody knows is what would potential new GMs want.

Personally, I think people who are new to BBMO are not going to stay in this league very long when they see the same teams winning every year and they see an inner circle of GMs in this forum. They probably feel like they are standing in the corner by themselves at a party (despite the sincere welcomes from many here).

Yeah we need more gimmicks for smaller market teams. Everytime I develop young talent I am forced to move them due to contract demands.

Also one problem I see is the slow response time by Commisioner office, not that I care but I have seen people frustrated by requests tacking a long time to be met.

I see this a lot in every league that's matured a few seasons. I'm not sure if its something in the code that perpetuates these dynasties or if its something else.

Just to elaborate more on my idea with some specifics. Again I'm still not sure about the revenue numbers to draw the lines at. This could also be extended out to all the other perks as well.

    > 199k no HP/FP (no perks at all? rookie extends, arbitration, etc)
    > 149k no hp/ 1 fp ( gets the 10 million homegrown)
    > 99k 1 hp / 1 fp ( rookie extends, arbitration )
    > 0k 2 hp / 1 fp

Just throwing this out. Nothing set in stone here. Pick away at it, but I think this can balance things more. Currently we help both the large and small markets equally. So it doesn't level the competition at all.

Only question I have is now to handle teams that cross the boundaries a lot. We'd pretty much have to make hp/fp done on a year to year basis.

i'm sorry tiger. i dont have a normal job. i have no access to a computer in the day. I am either on a boat or under the water with no cable. my only time i can check these things are when i get home. which after a very long and tiresome afternoon sometimes sees me hit the bed before the computer.

this league does have officers but it seems to me that we need to update that a little.

nothing i can really do about the same team winning every season except try to beat them.

as for standing in the corner. the more you respond to the forum the more you will feel welcome here. this league is 1 of the best for new guys coming in and getting helped by others. the core group here is an awesome one. if we can get michael to rejoin then it will become even better. you are welcome in any of our extra leagues we make. (fantasy football and baseball. ) if anyone would like it i'll make a hockey or basketball league for us to join too. i like all the same guys getting involved and having other things to talk about.
