What is a Good Pro Basketball Sim?

Since Basketball Mogul is years down the pipeline, can anyone recommend the best Pro Basketball simulation on the market? I'm only interested in the General Manager features of the game such as drafting, salary cap, trading, etc. Thanks.

Basketball text sim? The only one I know of is Total Pro Basketball and that doesn't seem to have been updated since 2005.

This one was basic, but it was fun. http://www.lhgames.com/probb.html

I think the game still updates to current rosters. But no free agency in this one.

In my opinion Jumpshot is the only way to go, it gives you rosters starting in 89 and if you want to actually coach, it has a very well thought out rating system, and the players will make adjustments such as passing to someone else if not open(or whatever it is). The cap features I disable because it's a little more then I want. One flaw is I believe it's denver or golden state, at the begin of the 91 season you have to put players on their roster are the game will crash. Total Pro DDS basketball. Didn't care for. And the other ones want you to pay for additional seasons.... meh.

I think this one took over the Fast Break Basketball game for 2003. It is a little pricey, but a decent game.

ahhhh...action pc basketball I actually posted that as a topic a few days ago. Did you actually buy this game? I couldn't believe with almost 40 views on this sim board no one admitted to it. I know they were in the stages of remaking fastbreak at greydogsoftware, but they kept on bothering the programmer of it and he backed out because he didn't have the time. In lance haffner tpg basketball does the computer trade with other computer teams and does it offer you trades and have salaries? I can find out very little about that game either.

Haffner is old and I am not sure about trading. I had the game and I had a lot of historical teams. It was great for replay but time managment was difficult.

I have not purchased Action PC. I am considering the discounted baseball game to see what it is like or the Football game. It looks fun, but I think it lacks the finances and the ability to build franchises.

Re: What is a Good Pro Basketball Sim?

I'm looking for a decent pc based pro basketball simulation. I've been playing Cactus League for the past few years, and it's okay. But every little revision/update has a $ sign tied to it!

Just to give you a better idea of my needs. I'm looking for something where I can play an occasional game as opposed to simulating an entire series/season. Also, I'm more interested in playing seasons of the past (circa, 1960s-80s) than most recent seasons.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Would recommend Strat-O-Matic basketball, been playing it for over 20 years now..check it out sometime (somhoops.com or strat-o-matic.com).

I think Strat's probably the best basketball game out there for replays. It's pretty detailed and I for one enjoy all the things you can tell the players to do on the court. There does seem to be a memory leak in the computer game, which makes it run turrible slow unless you save and restart the game every quarter or half...
