The most annoying part of Football Mogul is when you go to draft a player and you don't have enough cash to sign him. You often have to trade away picks for cash, just to limp through all 7 rounds of the draft. In addition to being annoying, the cash requirements aren't a realistic portrayal of today's NFL.
Football Mogul now eliminates these constraints, letting you focus entirely on football operations and staying under the salary cap. If you have a draft pick, the game ensures you always have enough money to sign him. If you liked the old way of doing things, you can go into the Options Dialog and change from "General Manager Mode" back to "Owner Mode" (see below). General Manager Mode: The default game mode, putting you in the role of General Manager, controlling football operations while the "owner" manages all revenues and ensures you have the funds to build a team. In this mode, the only limit on your personnel budget is the league salary cap. Owner Mode: Gives control over the financial operations of your franchise, requiring you to set ticket prices and manage expenditures in order to maintain positive cash flow. In Owner Mode, you are required to maintain a positive level of cash in order to draft players, sign free agents and extend contracts.

Thanks for making this change - I never understood how I could have my finances pretty much in line, be $15M under the cap and lose $20-$30M dollars and not have cash to sign draft picks.

Are you going to have Football Mogul to output cards for tabletop games like APBA Football?

I am new to Football Mogul although have been aware of it for some time having signed up for the newsletter a long time ago so am always keeping up to date with how things are going. Financial and time constraints have prevented me from buying previously but I am keen to pick up the new version soon if I can find the money.

Many thanks for that swift response. That was what I was hoping was going to be implemented in the game.

Are you talking about replaying the historical Super Bowls? The reason I ask is because the game has always allowed you to play the Super Bowls from the season you just completed, at least every version of the game I have had does, and I've been playing for well over a decade. There are 2 ways to play the Super Bowls for the season you just completed: 1 Get your team to the Super Bowl: 2 Go into the league editor and make yourself the owner for 1 of the teams playing in the Super Bowl for the season you just completed. Having an option for replaying the Historical Super Bowls (if that's what you're talking about) would be very cool.

Hi Carroll,
There is also a new "Super Bowl" checkbox in the League Editor. This will automatically be turned off for the 1966 season (and later). But you can check it for the 1960-1965 seasons if you'd like to player a Super Bowl between the AFL and NFL before the real-life first Super Bowl .

You have to lower the ages of the draft picks. 22,23, and 24 arent the ages of seniors or undergrads.

Some of them might have been if they served in the military before going to college.

A lot of draftees actually are 23, 24. More likely lower picks that redshirt/transfer/play as long as they can to boost their draft value if they're not on an NFL draft board.

I thought the same thing. People graduate from high school when they are 17 or 18, so they should graduate from college at 21 or 22.

Awesome change. I'd always just give myself a ton of cash so I never had to go through this problem, and removed the salary cap, but now I can actually just manage the cap and not all of the other moderately annoying stuff

Does the newest version reflect player moves in each players profile? It's not a huge thing I guess but I like being able to see where players go via free agency and trade. Another thing I like that baseball mogul has is the news feed you can click on to see player movement and retirements and such. Has that been incorporated into the new version? Thanks!

I played multiple years of Mogul games mainly football and baseball. I even played hot seating with my kids. However, they are growing up and off to college and Mogul still doesn't offer hosted leagues which would be huge boon to the game's enjoyment. Just look at the enjoyment fantasy football gives millions of NFL and MLB fans today. Is there any movement towards this in the future? Playing with friends and family is the best way to assure the future of this game. Thank you

I really like the idea of that too. It would certainly add a new dimension to the game.

It would be great if you could have random players from random seasons available for a draft. It would be awesome to have like Jim Brown and Tom Brady as teammates.
